Celebrate Valentine’s Day ~ Romantic Getaway or Turtle Chocolate Pecan Crepes for Lovers?

Inn at Ellis River Romantic Valentine's Tree

Our Valentine’s Tree

Were you a turtle making plans for you and your special someone? The Inn at Ellis River’s two night Valentine’s getaway is available throughout February, as is our one night romantic midweek escape. Jackson, NH has been named as one of the ten most romantic ski towns, and the fresh snow has created a winter wonderland for skiing, snowshoeing, and sleigh rides.

Can’t get away? Make our Turtle Chocolate Pecan Crepes for Lovers and your sweetheart may forgive you! We were thinking about how to create a pancake breakfast with the flavors of the classic Turtle candy ~ perhaps adding mini chocolate chips and pecans into pancakes and topping with a caramel pecan sauce. We decided that was great for breakfast, but not indulgent enough for a Valentine’s dessert, so that’s’ how Turtle Chocolate Pecan Crepes were born. The recipe is easy to make ahead so you can just warm the crepes and sauce and assemble at the last minute. If you don’t have time to make the crepes, purchase some at the grocery store along with the caramel sauce.

When your sweetheart swoons over the crepes on Valentine’s Day, tell that special someone you have made a reservation for a romantic weekend at the Inn at Ellis River later this year!

August 24 is National Waffle Day ~Celebrate All Month! posted on August 14, 2014

Let’s celebrate National Waffle Day (August 24) all month ~ this special breakfast treat deserves it. Why August 24? The date marks Cornelius Swarthout’s patenting of the waffle iron on that day in 1689.
